"Vor Ort sein" steht als Klammer über der Veranstaltungsreihe in RIO, RIO. Die Themenauswahl spiegelt die wechselnden Perspektiven des Besuchers, der das Straßentreiben verlässt, Gast von RIO, RIO wird und damit eine Innenperspektive annimmt. Diese wechselnde Blickrichtung der Person nehmen die eingeladenen Autoren auf, die aus der wissenschaftlichen Forschung, der künstlerischen, architektonischen und bauplanerischen Praxis Ideen, tradiertes Wissen und Assoziationen mitbringen. Das Überdenken und Äußern von Chancen und Risiken vor dem Hintergrund bisheriger Konjunkturzyklen von Städten sind hier Kern der Diskussion.

An jeweils 2 Abenden in den Monaten Juni, Juli, August, September und Oktober 2007 werden öffentliche Gesprächsrunden zu Architektur und Städtebau, Stadtentwicklung und Migration, das Ausbreiten und Schrumpfen von Städten, Nachbarschaft und Heimat, geborgen und verloren sein geführt. Die 11 Gespräche sind moderierte Dialoge, bei dem mindestens zwei Autoren gemeinsam einen Themenkreis vorstellen, der gesagtes verdichtet oder in Wiederspruch führt. Nach dem Autorendialog gibt es eine Fragerunde, an der sich alle Zuhörer beteiligen können. "Vor Ort sein" ist offen für alle interessierten Gäste.

Die einzelnen Dialoggruppen sind:

1) Modelle des Denkens in Kunst und Evolution, Verfasstheit des Staates und Spielraum des Bürgers
2) Haus und Heimat
3) Was kann ein Künstler, was kann er nicht.
4) Kunst und öffentlicher Diskurs
5) soziale Konflikte und und städtischer Raum
6) Weltkulturerbe und Weiterbauen

The two sculptures from artist Henry Puchert are going to stand over the roofs of Neustadt, a district of Dresden, starting this year in June.
RIO, RIO is the name of the art project made of two pavilions on the roof of Böhmische Straße 27.

These roof constructions are also an event venue. Here open discussions about architecture and urban development, city development and migration, the growth and shrinking of cities, the neighbourhood and native country, to be safe or to be lost will be held on two evenings in the month of June, July, August, September and October.

“Vor Ort sein” is the framework of the events. The choice of themes shows the changing perspectives of the visitor as he leaves the doings of the streets, becomes a guest of “Rio Rio” and gains thereby an inner perspective. Authors take up these changing perspectives and bring with them their scientific research, ideas from artistic, architectural and building experience, traditional knowledge and association.
The consideration and expression of chances and risks in view of the background of the previous economic cycle of cities are the heart of the discussions.

The discussion series is a component of “Rio Rio” and broadens the project’s horizons. This art project invites the viewer to think over not only the many different layers of western European cities but also the different layers of both those regions which are rising up and those which have fallen behind on all continents.
Architects and artists, scientists and journalists, building planners and civil rights speakers were asked to participate in discussions.
The eleven discussions are moderated dialogues, in which at least two authors present one subject field, which support or contests what has been said. After the authors’ dialogue the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.
“Vor Ort sein” is open for all interested guests.

The individual discussion groups are:
1) Models of thinking in art and evolution, regulation by the state and citizens’ freedoms
2) House and Home
3) What can an artist do, what not
4) Art and open discourse
5) Social conflicts and urban environment
6) Cultural heritage and further development

It won’t always be possible to have the events in the pavilions. They will then be held in the gallery rooms of the art house “Raskolnikow e.V”.
